The City of Gothenburg's Preschool Administration is responsible for education and care for approximately 25,000 children in nearly 360 municipal preschools. The administration has about 7,000 employees who work together with children's learning and development at the center. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for two placement officers!
One of the positions is a permanent employment at 100%, the other is a temporary position at 100%. Both positions start in mid-August 2025.
The department of governance and management at the preschool administration consists of three different units. The placement unit is responsible for preschool placements in the City of Gothenburg. The unit is organized into teams based on geographical areas: Northeast, Southwest, Hisingen, and City Center. Currently, a total of 22 placement officers work in the unit, and we collaborate in an activity-based office.
The placement assignment is broad, and as an officer, you will administer everything that happens during a child's placement period, from application to the end of the placement. Placing children in the city's municipal preschool operations is done in collaboration with operational managers and principals. As a placement officer, you will also work together with other professionals within the administration since the placement of children is closely linked to both finance and preschool staffing (HR), making you part of a larger whole. It is a task where you work with authority based on politically decided placement rules and the Education Act, as well as a supportive role where you assist guardians and principals. Your tasks will also include handling invoices and fees, contacting other municipalities, and more. Registration and follow-up of children placed in independent operations are done monthly by designated officers. There is variation in the tasks as not everyone does everything.
The operational system for placement work is the IT system IST administration, and knowledge and interest in digital development are needed as we work to simplify and improve our processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
For this position, we are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in public administration or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent
- Very good IT skills and proficiency in common IT systems such as Office 365
- Very good language skills, written and spoken in Swedish.
Meritorious factors:
- Experience working with authority and/or preschool operations.
You need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively with others. Since you will cooperate with many different professional groups as well as guardians in this role, it is important that you have a good ability to collaborate and communicate both verbally and in writing. You have an easy time navigating different digital systems, and you work towards cohesion in the workgroup, seeing setbacks as learning opportunities and creating space for dialogue. The work involves sometimes working under time pressure, and you need to have a sense of order, be structured, meticulous, and have the ability to think systematically. The work places high demands on being able to meet guardians in complex questions and situations, which is why you need to work effectively under stress, balance different demands, and maintain calm in difficult situations.
